Two things amaze me about this book. The first is that, despite the fact that I read it in high school, I remembered so little about it. The second is that, even though it is perhaps a little rough around the edges, it was written by S. E. Hinton when she was still a teenager. I've always thought of myself as a writer, or at least a wanna-be writer, but I could never have written a novel, let alone such a profound and gut-wrenching one, at Hinton's age. ...more
