The setting is the Pacific and Indian Oceans on a whaling ship called the Pequod. Some of the main characters are Moby Dick, a large whale, Ishmael, narrator of the book, Captain Ahab, captain of the Pequod who was in search for Moby Dick who bit off his leg, Queegueg, Ishmeael’s best friend and a great harpooner, and Tashtego, an Indian American harpooner.

Hmmm, I'm in two minds about this book. I picked it up to read because its considered a classic. At times he language was beautifully poetic and descriptive. I appreciated this most when I listened to the 'Moby Dick Big Read' which really brought the lyrical qualities of the language to life. I really enjoyed the descriptions of sailing on the ocean.
