I love the inventiveness and courage in this book that helps Dorthy grow.
Even though I have loved the movie as long as I can remember I had never read "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." Like the movie it is a wonderful adventure full of friendship and living up to the potential already inside you. The novel is much darker, in the tradition of true fairy tales, than MGM's classic telling.

It's never too late to read this wonderful children's story in case you have not done it yet. This is something that has always been on my list and I am happy to have finally finished this and it was very enjoyable! It was so interesting to see the differences and the similarities between this and the movie that we all know by heart. I want to continue on the Oz stories before I tackle the Wicked series by Gregory Maguire :)
