I'm really sorry I forgot to post my review on this futuristic novel. A new GR friend from Denmark has just accepted my friendship, I think this 4-star rating might interest her but, to her mild disappointment, she found nothing on this page. James has been bugging me to read this for a while, and keeps threatening to make me listen to the audio book, so I finally picked it up.
He's right: It's an amazing book. Scary and compelling at the same time. I read someone's comment on here that 1984 does not stand on its own as a novel, and I have to disagree. It's got conflict, love, betrayal, self-doubt, man vs. man, man vs. nature, etc., etc. All the markings of a good story.
Well written and steeped in political theory. Fascinating.
