Whoa. Just... whoa! This is my first from this author... and since I purchased this one in the duo with book 2, that's what I'll be reading asap! Then of course on to books 3. And the thing is, I usually stay away from cliffy endings and series with multiple books on the same couple. As in, I always stay away from those types of books. Let me start off by saying that I loved the Song of Submission series and couldn't wait to read this spin off because I love mafia books. But I must say I was a little disappointed by the lack of violence and the dialogue during the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong the sex scenes were hot but the disjointed "dirty" talk was just weird. Let's start this out by saying I have found a new auto buy author! *cue angels singing*. I really enjoyed her other series but this book made me fall head over heels. There was something about it for me that grabbed me and still hasn't let go. Even full length wasn't enough, I need more!

So now that my rant is out of the way, let's get to the details. First, the characters. I usually find myself falling in love with the hero (or anti-hero in a lot of cases)and I did, but in this one I found a female lead I could hang with. Theresa reeled me in from the moment she met the hot guy with toilet paper on her shoe. She's successful, intelligent and prefers to work for what she has. It was refreshing to watch her go after what she wanted and shake her stereotype. She grew a lot in this story already, I can't wait to see what's in store for her in the next one.

Antonio "Spin" Spinelli had my mind running in circles trying to figure the real him out and unravel all his secrets, when it wasn't panting in lust that is. He's the enigma from fantasies, that gorgeous bad boy with skeletons in his closet, even if those skeletons shared space with bodies.

Put them both together and you get off the charts chemistry and wait for it... the hot sex most girls won't admit to yearning for. There's no sweet whispered words of love and rose pedals, there's raw, pull your hair and blush the next day when you feel those bruises primal lust. The pull between these two could be felt through the pages.

I was a little surprised by the emotional investment the book provoked, along with the feelings I experienced. Going in I figured more of a sexy romp, and we got that, just so much more came along for the ride. There was nothing about this story that felt 238 pages and I easily read it in one sitting, lack of sleep included. I will be grabbing book 2 as soon as I can get my hands on it! ...more
