For the writing alone this book clearly deserves 5/5; it is a beautiful and archetypal mixture of Gothic romanticism, tragedy, and science fiction. However I feel somewhat opposed to the overall message of distrust in scientific discovery.
Within the frame story especially, I felt that Frankenstein's "mistake" was defined by his scientific fervour, likened to "playing God", where it seems to me his creation would not have been monstrous at all had he taken responsibility for it in the b ...more
