I asked for this book for Christmas because I really enjoyed his first book so much. It is a heart wrenching story about the recovery of the human spirit after tragedy. (In this case the Columbine Shootings). It was a good read, but like his first book, could have used some editing to shorten it. I would recommend it still.

Wally Lamb has a gift of making each character, each word, each thought ring true and important in this and all of his books. The story of surviving. The story of secrets. The story of forgiveness. I get to the end of each of his books, and immediately want to start over and read it again. A gifted author.

Get rid of the secondary historical story, par the book down to 300 pages and then, enjoyable.
