This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. When i read The Selection I fell in love with America, Aspen and Maxon and the whole idea of the competition. After reading Elite, I knew it was mainly about America having to make a decision between the two prince charmings. I had to say this book was a little rough for me and I loved it at first, I bawled when Marlee was getting caned and it made me grow hatred towards Maxon and the King and Queen. It made me view Maxon entirely different. Although America was enraged about what they did to Ma When i read The Selection I fell in love with America, Aspen and Maxon and the whole idea of the competition. After reading Elite, I knew it was mainly about America having to make a decision between the two prince charmings. I had to say this book was a little rough for me and I loved it at first, I bawled when Marlee was getting caned and it made me grow hatred towards Maxon and the King and Queen. It made me view Maxon entirely different. Although America was enraged about what they did to Marlee, it seemed to just pass and she was not angry at Maxon for she talked to him and I didn't notice the tension. I just wish I would of seen America really get mad at one of the two whether it was Aspen or Maxon. It just seemed back and forth and I couldn't tell who she really loves, it is hard to decipher who she has more feelings to and I found myself getting nowhere. I honestly have to say I don't like either of the male characters. I feel this way mainly because Maxon was caught kissing Celeste in secrecy, and I know Maxon had a explanation but if I seen that with the guy I like I would be like, "I'm out." I didn't like when Aspen told America she cannot be a princess. Despite Maxon and Aspen, I love America and her integrity and I find that not to be true she can be a princess, and a very good one. In the end, I didn't understand it, I thought that she would go home and be with Aspen, but she told Aspen she needed space and when Maxon told her he liked Kriss and then asked America to stay she just agreed. I guess what i did not like about this novel was the uncertainty I felt. I still do not understand why she chose to stay and who she truly loves. The next book is called the One and maybe she does marry Maxon, but I still don't like his character and I don't think this was a very intriguing novel for me. I did not get pulled in like the last novel. I wanted to see some action and some backbone on America. For seeing Maxon with Celeste, I wish she would of attempted to run home or called him bad names or something. I loved reading The Selection which forced me to read this book. Maybe I have strong feelings about it because I don't take an interesting into books that have no action, no "real" conflict. Kiera Cass is an excellent writer and I know many people enjoyed this novel, and I don't think it was downright horrible I just don't think I was interested in it because of the previous reasons. ...more

Through out this book, the only thing about America I noticed was that she was soooo annoying. Like she's not able to choose between Aspen and Maxon and when either of them gets close to someone else she's all jealous. When she's with Aspen she's like "How can I ever forget my first love?" and with Maxon she's saying that "I'll do anything for him and wants to marry no one but him." And on every second page she starts to cry. She's crying all the time!! I still liked this book, though. And MAXER ...more

America Singer is running out of time to make a choice between her past love with Aspen or her future with Maxon and the crown. She does not believe she would make a good princess, but something inside of her is shouting at her to try.
