A fun read, but a bit ridiculous.
With the amount of detail it goes into of post apocalyptic rebuilding and fighting tactics it wants to be taken somewhat seriously but there's a lot of "what a coincidence! We found exactly what we need for the plot!" I also found the villains cartoonishly evil.
I get the impression that this started as an intellectual exercise for the scenario What do you need to rebuild a strong society or a functioning medieval society in the post apocalypse? And then Stirlin ...more
