"Communion" is the true story (if you believe him) of Whitley Strieber's abduction by aliens. Strieber takes great pains to point out that he doesn't know what these "aliens" are (interdimensional pixies? UFOnauts?). His accounts of these incidents are genuinely terrifying. He is paralyzed, then carried away to a laboratory where painful medical procedures are performed on him. When he wakes up, he thinks he's going insane. Communion is regarded by many as the book that defined the pivotal alien abduction scenario. While it is true that the archetypes are present within this book: the medical examining table, the probes and implants, the mysterious disappearing pregnancy and more; it is also evident that Whitley Strieber was not the first to write about them.
