Continuation of Vasilissa's story. She gets involved with the lords of Moscow and, of course, it ends badly - now, it's the whole Moscow accusing her of witchcraft.
I don't get it. As if... well... no worse spoilers than I already have given.
I think she's selfish. I don't agree with or approve her choices. Doesn't much matter, does it?
There is some "let's make this character react like this because it fits the plot", and I don't like that.

read during the snow storm of spring 2018 - the beast from the east
builds on the first book
begin to see reflections of real historical events, the conflict between emerging Moscow and the Tatar horde
Alexander Peresvet and Chelubey
really builds the main characters
get much more depth from Vasya as her connection to the waning old spirits grows and she becomes embroiled in the political scene.
interesting view of a woman's role in 14th century Rus and her struggle for purpose
all the threads skillf ...more
