Wow, wow, and wow. Reading The Girl With All The Gifts is a thoroughly entertaining experience. The characters are wonderfully crafted. The writing is gorgeous, yet so clear. So much unfolds throughout this story. I never knew what would happen next, but relished when it did. This novel is simply perfection.
Melanie and Miss Justineau's relationship in this is so heartwarming. I'm so here for zombie/post apocalyptic stories and this is such an interesting take on it. The science chapters by Dr. Caldwell definitely lost me sometimes but it was interesting to see the discovery of the different types of hungries. Melanie and the other kids in her class while still attracted by the smell of skin and if not restrained could kill being conscious enough to learn new things and in Melanie's case process eve

3.5/3.75 stars (rounded to 4). for me, the beginning was slow, but it did pick up. and I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style, like there wasn't much special about it. also, it reminded me a lot of the last of us - not much of a criticism that, but it did. I did like the story and the take on zombies. I would recommend it to people who are looking for a zombie story to read.
