Ohhhh myyyyy godddddd.

I was so surprised by this book. While the cover is gorgeous, it's also sappy and romantic, and so is the synopsis. Everything screams sappy and romantic. But this book was so much more.

First and foremost, this was a romance. I knew it. I expected it. I can't complain about the romance (which was very well done, besides) when everything about this book was marketed as a high stakes romance.

That was a crazy awesome ride of a book! Kestrel is such an interesting character, her emotions and decisions are the not the typical ya female character decisions. No insta-love, no ba fighting on her part rather we are given a main character who is smart and cunning, who falls in love but still makes choices that are realistic. Kestrel was a very well fleshed out character and her and Arin were amazing! I loved the shifting dynamics in their relationship and I can't wait to read the next book ...more
