5 Gold dust stars for this gothic. It was so enjoyable for an October read. Just what I was looking for and it really delivered. Highly atmospheric. I enjoyed the characters and the setting, which was a bit of a character in and of itself. The woods, a pond, a magical willow tree (maybe?); ghosts, things that go bump in the night! An old estate. Family secrets.

The family is involved in a bit of scandal. They move to Willow Hall to hide away until things blow over. I loved Lydia and connected to ...more

Not for me apparently. Too much romance, annoying main character and annoying audio book narrator. If you like witches and romance though, you might really enjoy it.

I listened to the book on audio, fantastic performance. The narrator brought the creepy to life in this book from the paranormal elements to the depravity of human actions. The story had themes of family and sibling relationships, coping with loss, and love including forbidden love. What stood out the strongest in this novel was the relationship between sisters, Lydia and Caroline (the latter of which I'd like to have smacked her a few times--okay several times).
