As I continue to wander through the works of PG Wodehouse in chronological order, there are many fine bits of humor and wonderful descriptions and all the other things he is known for, but nothing compares to the Jeeves and Blandings series and this might be the best of the Jeeves books. The first four novels in the J&W canon are likely all among the top twenty best English comedy novels. There are many lovely reviews here, but just dive into Thank You Jeeves and jog along until you get through ...more

If there is such as thing as the quintessential Bertie Wooster and Jeeves novel, this could well be it. All the essential elements are here, and the situations and dialogue represent P.G. I feel like I've blasphemed somehow by giving the greatest writer of comic prose 4 stars for what is often cited as his best work. It's in my top ten, but Psmith Journalist, Picadilly Jim, and one or two from the Wooster and Jeeves series top this. Nonetheless, a delightful read. ...more

Audiobook version read by Martin Jarvis. Fabulously entertaining story. Good enough to make me consider seeking out more from the same (Wodehouse - preferably read by Jarvis, who was able to do a range of voices and accents. His transition from male to female voices was impressive i.e., he did not sound like a man putting on a lady voice). Both story and reader were great.
