On the surface this is the story of a man who returns to his home town after twenty years, and the effect it has on his family. At the core, though, it's about loneliness, and the cost of keeping secrets. It's bleak and cold, but mesmerizing just the same.

Most of my issues with this book were with the narration - I had trouble following it and did not like the change in tone the narrator used for the male characters . . . Also, it was just a little too dark - even for me.
I listened to the audio version of this book and liked it. Good narration, good writing and the plot kept me guessing and absorbed.
