In an attempt to read the more recent Pulitzer fiction winners, I decided to listen to Olive Kitterage. I definitely enjoyed these bleak linked stories. Honestly, linked stories are one of my favorite literary devices and Stout did a great job dropping Olive into each story. I like this one much better than Goon Squad.

Recently, I received an advance reading copy of Olive, Again which is a sequel to Olive Kitteridge, so I decided to read the latter before moving on to the former.
In terms of format, Olive Kitteridge consists of 13 interrelated short stories. This is not my favourite narrative structure, but Elizabeth Strout makes it work.
