I so appreciate the sparse writing style of Kent Haruf. His stories are powerful, provocative and character driven. I think this is my favorite yet, which makes me sad because this was the last book he wrote before his death this past year.

Our Souls at Night is a short little book that I was able to listen to in one day. The book itself should probably be rated 5 stars, but the story made me so mad that I can't bring myself to give it the 5th star.

This quiet, thought provoking story touched me. I could see this making a very interesting discussion at a book club. So sad that this is the last of Haruf's works as he is such a beautiful writer.

I rarely read a book in one day anymore. It was a normal occurrence as a teenager to stay up all night reading. But not anymore.
I was trying to decide what book I could read to complete my goodreads goal. No pressure, right? 🥹 I figured I had 6 days to read this book, no sweat. I read Plainsong and Eventide years ago, so I was familiar with this author's beautiful, sparse prose. Little did I know I would start this at 5:00 am this morning and 3 cups of coffee later I would be finished. I didn't ...more
