Absolutely incredible, and I’m so sorry I hadn’t read this sooner. Definitely a new favorite.
I suggest skimming the first two chapters, and then coming back to them after finishing the book. The first two are slow, and though they hint at what’s to come, they don’t make as much sense as they do once the novel is over.

I first read this many years ago. After coming back to it this time, I was completely and utterly captivated by Rebecca. This has become my favorite book; one I will come back to again and again to experience du Maurier's haunting tale of Gothic romance and mystery.

Excellent pacing -- unfolds slowly but assuredly. Usually quite psychologically astute, though perhaps a bit overblown at times. I'm interested to watch the Hitchcock film now and to read a bit of analysis on some of the supporting characters. I felt that none of Ben or Favell or Danvers was fully wrapped-up, though I suppose that may have been the intent, a way of suggesting the "life on the run" quality to come for the narrator.
