I wish I could give it 3.5 stars, but I feel good rounding up to 4.
I'll admit - I did see the movie first - which I try not to do, but in this case, I actually found it helpful. Not a lot of textual time is spent getting to know the people at NASA and so they blended together a bit in the book; with the cast of the movie available for reference, I could tell who was doing what.
I also prefer the ending in the book. No spoilers here but the movie (of course) had to add a bit more silver-screen fl ...more

I give it 2.5 stars. As someone who wants to be able to follow every detail of a book, the math and science really threw me off. I can't comprehend the math (that's on me- I don't have to, but I like to be able to!) and had a hard time visualizing the equipment. I love his humor, but found myself skimming a lot of his entries until the end when I could see his commentary.

Could not put this book down. Forget how realistic this book could be, how "exact" all the science was and just go with the story. It was great.
