Bring about the significance of conservation via a story = 💯 the last few pages made me tear up. The emotions are raw in this one despite instances of “that cannot be” throughout the novel. The death of an (innocent) animal preceding the birth of a human baby was all sorts of metaphorical for me. How many and how often have living beings sacrificed for the sake of humans?
