I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this. It's been on my tbr for years and it turned out to be really good. Not that that should surprise me, I usually enjoy NR Walker's books. I really liked the MCs and I thought this book did a good job balancing to romance and the mystery aspects, which isn't always done well. My biggest complaint is regarding the mystery though. I have about twenty reviews to write today so I'm just going to paste my notes here. Maybe I'll turn them into an actual review at some point.
If mom recognized him from TV then she already knew he was a cop.
Tiny feisty mom, big dad produce big guy trope.
Really great how the book doesn't just end after the climax. Instead, the rest of it is dealing with the aftermath. I like especially what Kira's issues are. I felt he was really believable and his processing made sense.

I absolutely love Matt and Kira and the pacing of the romance was so spot on and felt completely natural, their interactions with each other just made me smile.
The mystery/suspense of the story needed some work, it was just a thing happening in the background until the end of the story. So although the romance pacing was perfect, the mystery could have been a little more even.
But, I loved Matt and Kira as characters and they are what kept me reading...I was giddy with their moments and shared ...more
