Take a journey with Ferdinand from the trenches of the first world war, to the jungles of Africa, to new york and detroit and back to Paris.
On the way Ferdinand meets Robinson, and a host of characters whose name sometimes means something in french, hence the helpful glossary. There's episodes which were very dark, but they appeal to my sense of humour. Just like Ferdinand's attitude to what is happening to him, and around him.

That was really, really something. I realized that all the 20th century novels I've really enjoyed in the past 5 years have all been knockoffs of this book. The audiobook was great and I LOLed plenty. ...more
