It took me a little while to get into this one, but I ended up loving it. It's quite impressive to come up with such an interesting, thought-out universe full of abstract ideas and then to manage to write a thrilling story within it.

I really enjoyed this book. I immediately read the sequel, and I'm looking forward to more books from this series coming out.
Ann Leckie has done a great job of imagining a huge space empire, with diverse populations that ring true to life somehow. The premise of the titular Ancillaries (I won't spoil it) is interesting, and the central mysteries really got me hooked. I read the book very quickly, and my only real complaint is that it seemed kind of short.
