I read Fangirl mostly because I wanted to read this, but I think I actually ended up liking Fangirl a little more. Not that I didn't enjoy this - on the contrary. I read a lot of fanfiction, and this does a very impressive thing, in that it's very much like fanfiction but like the best kind of fanfiction: neither parody nor slavish imitation.
