So… like I've said before…. Now I know why this book is named Heartless…. 😭😭

Like, y'all, this book BROKE me, and the recovery train left the station to go to Chess ages ago, so I guess I'm just broken forever now…. (jkjk, I was broken way before reading this book. 🤪 But thankfully I know someone who can take my brokenness and make it something even greater. 😊✝️)

Aside from my beef with the parents (ughhhhhhhhh i am so mad at them! and they had the audacity to finally be like is this what YOU want after everything that happened. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!) and the Peters (they could've at least been nice to the stranger who came up to them offering potential gifts. you can reject people NICELY), I enjoyed the book. It had a bit of a slow start, then you were introduced to the sweet and dreamy fmc and the slow-burn... and the (ughhh) triangle

I truly do understand why Mary Ann did what she did throughout the book. In the end, she was just trying to fix things to get her friend back (with the added bonus of being a hero) after messing everything up so badly. However, I do not condone her actions at all whatsoever [mostly cause of the 1st incident]

I absolutely refuse to talk about JestxCath (except she was STUPID AND STUBBORN AND NEEDS TO START TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR STUFF IN HER LIFE CUZ SHE WAS PART OF THE PROBLEM! and she wasn't even that good of a friend either if you think about it. granted Mearle was kinda stuck-up and Nary Ann was technically a servant but stilllllll - she claimed to be Mary Ann's friend but almost never took her "friend" into consideration. just saying). So moving on to Hatta, the POOR THING 🥺 al he wanted was to escape his ... legacy, shall we call it (much like Raven from ever after high - ok but why is that what popped in my head?! it's been AGESSSSS since i last read that series, what on earth) This poor man was ruined because of one careless action. Both he and the raven deserve SOOO MUCH MOREEEEE

i love how accurate to the original story - i was visualizing the tiny bouncing king who worships his queen, the tweedles, the doormouse in the tea cup, the mad hatter and Haghia (?), and the croquet (or whatever it's called)

one of my friends didn't like this book, so i wasn't expecting it to be great, but i thought it was really good. its the queen of hearts's origin story, and i knew it was going to end badly but i still cried 5 times lmao. for like 4/5 of the book it was fine but the last 1/5 i absolutely sobbed my heart out. i started when she gave up and started to marry the king and then jest came back for her and then when he died and then anytime they mentioned crows or white roses or bakerys lol ...more
