What Members Thought

As I was reading this wonderful book, it was originally a 4.5 for me. I usually round UP, but in this book's case, I was going to round DOWN, mostly because I was finding "Grandma's Bible" and a few other things a bit cloying. BUT, I was so pleased overall with this book before the end that I decided to go with the 5 stars. Yes, some of the elements are still a little precious, but a book like this needs to be celebrated, not taken down. Thus, Happy Reader, my eventual rating. ENJOY!

Jandy Nelson is why I want to be a writer. This book is why I want to be a writer. This prose, this story, these characters... theses are all some of the many, many reasons why I want to be a writer. This book is a masterpiece; a collection of the finest pieces of art complied together in words to make you think and to open your mind and to bring light into your life. I am in awe by the way this novel was written, with its mesmerizing metaphors, precise yet artistic descriptions, and small but i

WOW. This book was just so amazing. I could hardly put it down. I just love Jandy Nelson's writing so much and I wish she had more books that I could read!
The story in I'll Give You the Sun is told in alternating chapters between Noah and Jude. However, Noah's chapters were written when they were 13-14 and Jude's chapters were written when they were 16; I really liked this method of narration.

This books on my (I think quite prestigious :D) Loved it! shelf.
It was so beautifully written! I wanted to cry, but couldn't, and still want to but, can't.
My favorite twin was Noah straight of from the first line "This is how it all begins."
I didn't even know he was a twin yet (I don't necessarily read summaries of books, scared of spoilers) and I loved him throughout the book. When he was confused, when he wasn't, when he hated himself, when he didn't. When he was in pain, wrestling with himsel ...more

This is a generous 4 stars. At first the story of Jude and Noah started off making sense then once if got further in, it seemed to unravel more than make sense. Towards the end the last 100 pages reworked themselves into the story so it made sense. Nelson started off with a clear story, broke it a part and then put it back together. The end made it a 4. This story is unique to itself in a thoughtful way. I think I also liked it because the situation is relatable in a way only twins will understa

So for some reason, before I bought this book I was labouring under the misapprehension that it was about two twins who fall in love with the same guy. Needless to say, I’ll Give You the Sun turned out to be quite different from what I expected. (In a great way!)
