"The Golden Dynasty" What can I say about this book? To sum it up, it is brutal but beautiful.

I knew before reading this book that I was going to love it. You ever get those feelings about certain books? And then you realize that you weren't wrong? Well that's what happened for me with this one. I could not put this book down..

TGD is the 2nd book in Ms Ashley's Fantasyland series. It's also the first book I've read in this series.

You are taken to a parallel world where kings rule, and the politics of the land in state and home are primitive, but not without cunning & common sense. Passion, the very essence of what makes a man a man. A woman, a woman and what it takes to sustain this. This book blew me away. I've cried so many times reading this I've lost count. I've cheered and screamed and cried some more.

Scary, heartwrenching, bloody, passionate, compassion, erotic, etc.. All the things that let us know we are truly alive when we experience these emotions, are present within this story.

This story sucks you in and keeps you there. It doesn't matter that this story is fantasy. It feels real. You will not want it to end.

Dax Lahn... WOW! I am truly convinced that if he were real, he would break the mold that which is defined as a man.

Circe, you will love. She is strong. She is giving. Her ability to roll with the punches and adapt to this world she is literally thrown in, with no clue how she got there, how she will survive, and most importantly how to get out of there. To adjust to this world where she is seperated not only by language but culture, and to find herself the Queen to these people and mate to their King. To have all of this thrown at her with the fear & uncertainty she is feeling to watch her handle this with dignity, heart, & compassion is nothing short of amazing to me.

I loved going on this journey with Circe, and Lahn. I loved the culture. As fearful as it could be at times the beauty of this world and these people trump the darkness within it. And even though for me, this one had a bittersweet ending, it still didn't keep me from doing my "Happy Happy Joy Dance" for love of this book.

I can't say yet if I would recommend this series, but I most certainly will recommend this read. If you read but one book in this series I HIGHLY recommend you read this one. ...more

Wow , a week or so ago me , nya and debbie were talking about ka bookw and this one came out , it sounded so intriguing, and i put down every thing that i was reading an jumped right into this book, innthe first few chapters i realised that nya had told me about this book a while back , i tgink back then i wws reading abook when nya and debbie kast read this . The first few chapters , hiw cerci sort of appeared to be where she was and how she coped wow , how she when from wh3re xhes from to a complete diffent way of life , from oour way of life , our laws , how we treat people to pretty much in away going to and ealier civilisation and way of living from in cerci's and our way of what lahn did to her ,and hw we , she felt to kahn and his people - it what they knew , what is for then , theyre way of life , so in away i felt fer cerci and i felt for him and hie people just as equaly . I loved learning about theyre way of living , the chames, i loved that i mostly took in a knew language , i never learned much at school . I loved that after how cerci realised and learned that lahn never ment to hert him she grew closer and closer to him , i loved how over time she convinced him to be a one woman man ,although some thing told me he had that in him and she needed reasuring , i love how furrther on in the book when the shit hit the fan and she was a badass and held her own , i loved the humor through out the book . How apoon learning about slaves cerci made hers her own people , her friends , her equels , i love that dortak gete hie carama . Two points of this book hit me so hard when lahn hurt cerci both time made me feel hurt inside , the secon time the advice cerci got , made so much sence , these are just some 0arts if ghe book , whaf i loved , what made me want to punch a wall ,it hardly touched tge surface if every thing that i enjoyed for me this goes right up there next to the stand , IT, tge dark tower series ...more

Only book worth reading in this series. But all of them are still incredibly good, just not great, like TGD. With the exception of book 5, which I have not read.

I read this book not knowing what I was going to say once I got done. There were things in this book I just couldn't get past, and no amount of It's their way would ever be enough, but that only took away one star.

Everything else was pretty fantastic. How do you reconcile the things that you don't like (and actually loathe), with the rest of the book that you absolutely love.

I will never be completely okay with Lahn as a hero, but I loved Circe. She was exactly the type of heroine that I love t ...more
