Well... I binge-read 75% of the book in one sitting. And it was a roller coaster. I really enjoyed it once it got going and I got used to the banter. The way Emily Henry wrote the pull between Daphne and Miles had my eyes jumping ahead before I read the top of the page and I had to go back to make sure I got it all. Haha. Mild spoilers at the end of this review~~

Also (!!!!), I don't know if I was just living under a rock, but I was not expecting this book to be so spicy. My previous book club wanted to read this when I left and I added it to my new work book club(coworkers including my mother!) for voting. It's amusing that I told them I avoided anything spicy and the second book we read gets hot and heavy LOL.

It took me a little bit to get into the book because their banter seemed so unnatural. It reminded me of conversations you have with yourself where you can determine what the 'other' voice says which could be funny, serious, flirty, etc. (as an author does) It just meant that I had to look past that and slow down so I wouldn't lose who was speaking since they had such a similar way of joking to each other (May or may not be due to my adhd brain).

Both of their family traumas made me tear up a few times. At first, it was subtle drops here and there. Then some oddly big drops with not enough context pertaining to the situation- some of them didn't fit. I feel like Miles' trauma dump flowed a bit better than Daphne's partly because we only get what he tells us, unlike Daphne's who gives snippets here and there about her past. But overall, it helped understand their reasoning for why they reacted the way they did to the funny story.

I really enjoyed the relationship that Daphne made with Ashleigh and Julie, as well as other people she met in town through work and Sunday outings with Miles. I found my self thinking about Ashleigh's birthday before Daphne even noticed and when they had a falling out, I was devastated for them.

Last thing- I am so glad that she gets to tell Peter off at the end. OF course he would come crawling back only to be a smug prick. ...more
