This is the second Emily Henry book I read, and I must tell you, I am both in love and called out. Like it happened with my first book of hers, here we have another mfc who is around my age. Being close to age with your mc doesn't mean you're going to identify with them - heck, I've identified with younger characters more than ones closer to my age. But Nora Stephens, just like January Andrews in Beach Read, just spoke to me on a personal level that I thought I was looking through a mirror. Perh This is the second Emily Henry book I read, and I must tell you, I am both in love and called out. Like it happened with my first book of hers, here we have another mfc who is around my age. Being close to age with your mc doesn't mean you're going to identify with them - heck, I've identified with younger characters more than ones closer to my age. But Nora Stephens, just like January Andrews in Beach Read, just spoke to me on a personal level that I thought I was looking through a mirror. Perhaps this was the author's intention to draw you in so personally, considering this is a book about the world of stories and books and about the people that deal with them as readers. Just for this relatable material, this book deserves all the stars alone.

On one side, we have Nora, a successful book agent from New York City. She is admired by her colleagues, but she thinks she isn't able to create deep bonds with people, and this is the reason she has no friends and her romances don't last. But she seems happy because she has her job, and she has her sister Libby - that's everything she thinks it's enough to make her life livable. Her sister doesn't agree with this, so she suggests to Nora that they go on a trip to Sunshine Falls, the small city where the last book of an author Nora represents is set. And Nora agrees.

On the other side, we have Charlie Lastra, who is an editor at a famous publishing house in NYC. The two worked together for the release of the Sunshine Falls book, but they didn't seem to agree on many things. Nora sees Charlie as a stuck-up, entitled man who knows he is hot and elegant and successful and doesn't have time for people like her, way below him. Nora believes Charlie is the typical New York City Upper East Side man born with a silver spoon, but reality will show her that she completely misjudged Charlie. Charlie is adorable, and he is far from the rich guy Nora thought he was. He may come up as rigid and presumptuous at first, but then we see that he's a normal man dealing with a lot of things. He's very thoughtful and sweet, he always seems to read Nora well, and he tries to be there for her, unlike people from her past.

Story-wise, there are some clichés, it's your typical contemporary romance story. Romance stories are often predictable because there is not much room for the element of surprise since it needs to sound realistic, but this book managed me to surprise a few times. Unlike other romances I usually read, we had two characters who were so alike you thought you were seeing double. Perhaps some would find it dull and uninteresting, but that's exactly why it's fun. Book Lovers is a meta book. It's about two people who are INTO books for a living and end up having a life who looks like it came out of a book itself.

I definitely loved this, as you can tell. Sure, it had its flaws, but it left me with wanting more. I hope the author releases a short story with Nora and Charlie like she did with Gus and January. ...more

Book lovers and Hallmark movie lovers will really enjoy this story!

Nora is career-driven, ambitious, very particular in most aspects of her life and not the kind of woman someone wants to be with in the long term which is why she’s been dumped 3 times.
