I am comfortable that this is a 3.5-4 star read for me.

Let me explain: I get stuck in phases on what I like to read. For awhile, it's been nothing but motorcycle clubs and bikers. Don't ask me why, as I really don't have an answer to that. This book would normally not pop up on my radar right now, but something about the blurb promised it would be entertaining. For about the first 80 percent, I wasn't disappointed. To say that Talia has had a bad year is putting it lightly. Her family's falling I am comfortable that this is a 3.5-4 star read for me.

To say that Talia has had a bad year is putting it lightly. Her family's falling apart, her long-term boyfriend cheated, and her book deal is about ready to bankrupt her. When an opportunity to make some extra money pops up, she can't possibly turn it down. Even if it means dealing with Hayes's grumpiness on a daily basis.

I feel like I should discuss this book in two parts and use the 80 percent mark as the divider. For the first portion of the book, I loved how the author weaved two people together who would normally avoid each other at all costs. Both of them live in a very jaded existence when it comes to relationships and the opposite sex. Forced to work together, they don't have a high opinion of the other one. I personally loved the back and forth banter that not only included quick wit but 12-year-old boy humor. I found it funny as I am sure we all know someone who can turn even the slightest comment into something sexual.

Now, the other 20 percent of the book. I don't want to be harsh, as this is a really good read that is well worth the time. I am also aware that I might be in the minority about how I feel on this. However, I really wanted to email the author for a rewrite on the ending. My first thought was how could you write such a lackluster ending? You've spent almost 300 pages building this layered foundation only to basically wrap it up in a few chapters. I honestly thought there was no way the book was going to end, and I just didn't know there was a cliffhanger. It does end on a happy note, but it just leaves a sore spot. I really liked it. Banter & snark is excellent. Tali is a fun character - great lines & attitude. Hayes is a brooding but somewhat endearing character. His bedroom is - um, interesting. Will say no more.
Points taken off for some unnecessary OTT stuff. A surprisingly quick read.

This was good. It reminded me a lot of The Favor, not exactly, but it had moments, but I think I liked this better.

The start was a bit bumpy, I honestly for a minute thought I had missed a previous book, but once I realized I didn’t I was able to really get into it and enjoy the story.

I do wish that Hayes sounded more British when he talked, I had to keep reminding myself that he was British if someone didn't mention it.

Tali's family and Hayes's Dad, just ugh.

Hayes Flynn & Tali

The author did a good job portraying Hayes as an ass from the beginning, at least from Tali's Pov. He ended up being like an onion and his layers needed to be peeled.

Once we got to know him, we get to see that he is more than what the media portrayed.

Tali had her heartbroken by her long-term boyfriend, who not only cheated, but made her feel less than. This does affect her view of men and their actions, and it's understandable that she would be leery of someone who is a woman ...more

I loved loved loved this novel, it was so very good! From the very first page I was sucked into this novel and could not put it down until the very last page and even then I didn't want it to end. I loved Tali and Hayes. Oh my gosh the banter and dialogue were the best. I love when a novel can make me laugh out loud in public. This novel checked all of my boxes, and I did not want it to end.
