The first couple of the chapters were a little slow for me personally. I wasn't sure I was going to love this one, but a complete 180 happened and this ended up being my favorite book of the series so far. I don't know if Death is going to be able to top it because aside from the first couple of chapters, it was perfection.

The sarcasm and banter were immaculate. Ana especially had me cracking up and the more Famine was around her, he began making me laugh too. I loved Famine and Ana together. I don't know if Death is going to be able to top it because aside from the first couple of chapters, it was perfection.

For me, the biggest thing was watching him become more alive. He was so drool with a barely there personality in the beginning, but then came the sarcasm, the jokes, the banter, the fire, the possessiveness, the protectiveness, the love. We just watched him to come to life because of her and I loved it. They couldn't have been more perfect for each other and it's been some time since I read the first two books, but I know for a fact, I didn't feel nearly as strongly for the couples in the first two books. With this book, I felt so many emotions. I mainly laughed my ass off. I got lost in it. I cried, which is the biggest shocker of all.

However, I will always think it is an absolute crime that we do not get the Horsemen's POV in these books. This was already a five star read, but it'd probably take it to a 10 star read if we did because the little snippets of Famine we get in this one BROUGHT ME TO MY KNEES. His feelings for her ran so deep. The need to either end the world or cease existing if she wasn't in it. How she became his whole world and making her happy the only thing that mattered. Settling down to live among the humans he truly despises just to be with her. Being willing to give up his purpose, his power to be with her. I could quite literally go on with the depth of his feelings for Ana just based off of the little bits that we did get. If he could make me feel that strongly with just maybe 2 -3 chapters, imagine multiple. Ugh, swoon.

When it comes to the end of the book...woah that was a lot and I saw absolutely none of it coming. What an entrance for death. I think I was in a state of shock the entire time I was reading that final chapter. That dude definitely seems like a cold motherfucker. It was such a strong set up for the fourth and final book. And although I usually dread ending a series, it made me excited to finish it up just to see how it all ends. Like is God gonna be pissed that all her horsemen failed? Or was that all in his plan???? ...more
