Hello! I was part of the I hate Gideon Fan Club like so many of my friends after reading Milo. There was just NO WAY his book was going to change my mind. I mean, really, Milo's book lost a star because of him! My review started out talking about him because I hated him so much and he took something from the book in my opinion.

I didn't even want his stupid story.

Well, fuck me.

Guys, I am allowed to be wrong right?

Well, well, well! What a surprise this was, and so good too. See, I knew that Gideon ran deep. I knew there was a lot going on behind that hard, bravado and I was soooo right and I floved him. He totally bowled me over with how he was with Eli .... his vulnerability, his honesty and even his insecurity. He couldn't hide a thing from Eli.

If ever two characters were meant to be it's Gideon and Eli.

My favourite book of the series by a million stars and Lily Morton is fast becoming one of my favour ...more

Every time I think I have a favorite Morton book another comes along and blows me away. Another surprise was Gideon himself. I never anticipated him to elbow his way to the top. I can honestly say that I didn’t care much for him (at all!) when we met him in the previous book. And one of my weaknesses is when an author turns my disdain into respect tinted with adoration. As it turns out, I absolutely adore Gid and his prickly exterior and soft warm heart. Luckily for us, he has a story. As it turns out, I absolutely adore Gid and his prickly exterior and soft warm heart. Luckily for us, he has a story. Sadly, it starts out rather grim. Gideon has felt the cold shoulder from almost everyone in his life, except for his brother (recent change) and his besties. The rest of the world can sod off as far as he cares. No one has ever given him any reason to feel differently. Until….until Eli. Eli sees straight through his disguise and into his soul. Eli doesn’t coddle him or sugarcoat anything, he tells Gideon like it is, even if he’s being a tart. Life has been cold and hard for Gideon. His health plummets and Milo steps in and demands he make changes. Niall especially enjoys Milo when he’s bossing everyone around. *smirk* But yes, Gideon is forced to rest and get well. His personal nurse will see to it. In the process of helping him restore his health, Eli helps him restore his broken heart. Their journey isn’t smooth sailing by any means but I enjoyed every step along the way. I’m fairly confident you will feel the same.

What's to like: Gideon has fallen and crashed all the way to rock bottom. He’s a mess. He thinks the only person that truly cares for him, Frankie, will patch him back together as he usually does. But this time, his brother appears and pleads with Gid to get better. Grudgingly he agrees and can’t deny part of the allure might be his new nurse. Eli does something to him. He lights up this part of himself that he never knew existed and it’s exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. The cruise ship that is taking him home is full of blue hairs. No drinking and no drugs typically equate to no fun in his world but for the first time, he doesn’t want to get lost in the haze. He yearns to be present and when the ship docks, he’s not the same man that boarded. Not because of his physical recovery. No. Gideon reclaimed his soul and revived his heart. It was beautiful.

What's to love: Eli is easy to love. Gideon became easy to love. And what I enjoyed most was…Morton didn’t use Eli as a magic wand, making Gid a better person. He was only the instrument that made Gideon want to make himself better. Which boils down to the old saying that you can’t love anybody else if you don’t love yourself first. Gideon was miserable and tired. Tired to pretending he didn’t care, tired of hiding, tired to being denied. Eli could see the potential of what Gideon was concealing and wanted to help him free the brilliant Gideon he knew was there. There were tender moments and snarky moments and of course, burning hot moments. Whew! Talk about intense sexual tension and extreme build up…I think we were all about to burst! One of the many reasons that Lily excels at her craft is her uncanny ability to balance things. I know I will swoon, laugh, and lose my breath every time I open one of her books. Which is why I keep coming back! It was simply marvelous seeing the rest of the gang. The patio barbeque was one of my favorite scenes. And the epic ending lifts my heart and lights up my face every time I recall or reread it.

Beware of: A fortress protecting a heart is slowly demolished. Bubbly banter. A simmer that will keep you warm until it catches fire. And an ending that will leave you begging for more.

This book is for: Finding Home fans were most likely awaiting the release as I was, but if you haven’t read this insanely amazing series yet, you really really should. Start at the beginning and enjoy the ride, I promise you’ll be cheering alongside the rest of us.
