Vince (37) & Payton (22). Spin off from Good Girl. Told only from heroine POV. Pretty much insta love (less than 2 weeks). It has a HEA. Epilogue told from Vince’s POV.

My first impression:
What happens when Payton runs out of Cheez-Its for dinner?? Well she runs in to Grind Me Cafe’ (which is not a sex toy shop), gets a muffin for din din and then convinces herself that Kismet (aka fate) is telling her to “sample” a life coach (which can be done by sitting at a nearby table and evesdropp ⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Hilarious!!!

I’m at Grind Me Café! When I saw the sign go up I thought it was a clever name for a sex toy store, but when I went in the first time I realized they meant grind like coffee beans, not like—well, never mind. It’s a coffee shop”

My 2nd impression:
I laughed a lot at Payton in the beginning chapters. However, by 20% Payton got really, really annoying and came off as more of an immature middle school kid. She went on these really long nonsensical ramblings and I found myself skipping a lot because she became just too over the top.

By the 50% mark, I don’t think Vince had spoken more than 50 words, whereas Payton’s inner dialogue ramblings could easily be 50 words a sentence (ok...that might be an exaggeration. But still, where’s the mutual talking?? I got nada). I think I would have really liked Vince, but I didn’t get enough of him because the book was from Payton’s POV and her lack of common sense and immature thinking took center stage. The bedroom scenes were steamy between Vince and Payton, but outside of the bedroom the reader gets things like “we talked about his childhood and mine” and then Payton starts in again with the inner dialogue ramblings. So I really didn’t get to know Vince at all or really understand his personality. That made me sad because he seemed like a guy I could swoon over. Sigh.

Overall, this is a really quick, light read. No OW/OM cheating drama. No big secrets or lies. No triggers. No angst. A few secondary characters that I’m guessing will have their own book someday. But, with a heroine that I felt was immature and a hero who I didn’t really get to know, I wasn’t blown away. It was just ok. ...more
