Oh my gawddddd!!! Did the editor take a vacation or something?!?! Where is the editor?!?!?! This book is loooooooonnnnnnng! I find even an ocd like me that never usually will be satisfied unless I read every single word have to skim at some places, or I am sure I won't have the engagement to finish it.

I have a huge issue with the h, now I remember while I did in general enjoy KA's books, I sometimes think her h are too soft. I enjoy my h with m *trigger* (view spoiler)

I find even an ocd like me that never usually will be satisfied unless I read every single word have to skim at some places, or I am sure I won't have the engagement to finish it.

I have a huge issue with the h, now I remember while I did in general enjoy KA's books, I sometimes think her h are too soft. I enjoy my h with more of a backbone, and this one is a virtual doormat. Time and again she kicks up a huge fuss wanting something or not happy about our H's treatment, then after all the fuss it fizzles out and she melts just by a look or a few inadequate (in my book) words and is ok with everything. Admittedly I do not even understand what her problem is to begin with, my take is she isn't happy she isn't contributing or being useful, my take also is if you are not happy with the status quo, you do something about it, instead of sitting there mopping about it for days and twiddling your thumbs. I also do not know why things are fine just because a few words are spoken by the H, I really think this is more of a her-issue, and that she should be able to resolve this issue and realise her self worth by herself. I just really do not feel this is a reason for her hesitation even though I agree there should be some in this book, and I never really feel this is resolved properly just because there is an L word there somewhere.

I also am seriously disappointed in the H. While the book will not be interesting without some conflicts, I feel our H isn't much of one as time and again we are not shown how great he is (except in bed), his words without the deeds to follow it up on is just meaningless to me. What is the problem here is with the h being such a doormat she caves before he can do anything great to show us how wonderful a H he is. I cannot respect a h that just melts to a poodle whenever H is around, making me also not able to respect this H also because he doesn't need to exert much of any effort to make things ok. He did a few pretty awful things all through, and even h acknowledges as such and she also acknowledges it isn't ok in her book, within a few pages she again caves and goes all gooey eyed *sigh* so aggravating. While we're afforded at times his pov, of the pretty awlful times he did our h a disservice, we never know what he really thought, and all we see is a pretty bland and unfeeling mask in place, which is pretty bad for my impression as it seems he's capable of being cruel and unfeelingly detached with just a switch of a button and it certainly doesn't bode well for a h that needs some stable security. While he can be a sweetie when he wants to be, I'm sorry to say he didn't take with me with his few stellar a-ho performance and non grovelling. It is NOT ok for him to be verbally abusive (granted, I personally didn't think it really is so dire, but what matters here is the h's impression) and cruel to the h just because he's having a bad day or has other things on his mind, it is further NOT ok just to say you're sorry, oh wait, I don't think he did this everytime as he's too much of a macho and powerful dude to apologise, so instead I think he said he will not do it again (and again this isn't promised at every a-ho scene) then gives a few kisses to write it all off when this happens more than once. I will so not take this piece of rubbish back if I were the h, to be perfectly honest, as he obviously has a very stressful job and life, and bad days will happen quite often. Lastly it is NOT ok for the h to have to come crawling to him virtually EVERY TIME!!!!!! Honestly the book is so long with so many things there I probably didn't get this all right, but this is the impression I got after I read it, and it really just shows he doesn't seem to care much (despite knowing he's in the wrong, he got tons of excuses to let things stew time and again, then even knowing he's hurt the h, he doesn't really do anything grand at all except to utter a few magical word and looking all hot to make up for it because he doesn't need to!!!!) His autocratic commands also make things worst, as I also feel h's accusation of everything needs to go his way seem pretty spot on, and again this doesn't seem to have been addressed, except for the simple fact that because he loves her, this will no longer be an issue (like, huh?).

The book length is also a huge huge issue for me. I need to doublecheck but I don't recall the previous books in this series being so neverendingly long. While it really is packed with a lot of things there, I don't find all of them necessary to be included in a romance. I felt more like I'm reading one of the classics or a 1800 literature novel, with such in-depth descriptions of the scenery, clothes, house (sheesh I think there probably is around 6-8 pages taken up to describe one single bedroom alone!!!) There are also multiple pov at times, very long and draggy dialogues with our secondary casts, and also very long and draggy dialogues and love scenes between our mains, which isn't strictly speaking no content, but I do not find it needs to be so long, or even necessary to bring the story along. The two didn't really get together for the longest time (I'm reading an e version, but it probably is around 40 pages in my version) at the beginning of the book, when all we're shown is h having a great time with his boys. By then, I just wish she will hook up with one of them instead and I kept flipping to the description page to see if I'd mistaken the H there somewhere.

As mentioned, there is a lot of secondary character involvement in this one. Besides the boys, the girls and the lil ones of the H, we also get to see the previous characters working together to bring down the evil, which is great. While I do love the close knitted relationship they all have with our mains, and our mains still have a huge chunk of together time here so essentially it is a good balance, again it is just too long for me. It seems every single dialogue and scene is stuffed in and it's a bit too much.

Despite all my rantings though, I still like it as this one more or less is the finale of this series (and on that note, I'm just going to skip the last one even though I do like Noc, I don't think I'll like the background of the modern word nor the h). Plotwise, a lot is going on there and it's still pretty action packed, and I do love how things got resolved in the end, though the confrontation scene itself is pretty short comparatively and things got all sorted out within moments. Another thing I really was initially very impressed with, but then got bored of because it became a bit repetitive, is the sexy times. The first get together especially is really hot, steamy and intense. The other really grand thing of this book is probably the cute and sweet epilogue at the end. ...more
