2020 Re-read: doesn’t stand the test of time with me. The first time I struggled with it because it was all from Layne’s perspective and it’s worse in re-read because the casually judgy comments, the fat shaming and fat phobic comments stand out in stark relief to me now. The bitter ex who “let herself go” the casual digs at her fatness as a way to judge her made me uncomfortable. And they were random so I’d be enjoying a scene and get smacked in the face with it. The entire Merrick family needs 2020 Re-read: doesn’t stand the test of time with me. The first time I struggled with it because it was all from Layne’s perspective and it’s worse in re-read because the casually judgy comments, the fat shaming and fat phobic comments stand out in stark relief to me now. The bitter ex who “let herself go” the casual digs at her fatness as a way to judge her made me uncomfortable. And they were random so I’d be enjoying a scene and get smacked in the face with it. The entire Merrick family needs therapy and using that as a way to keep Layne and Rocky apart still isn’t a fave plot device. There’s at least resolution to some plot threads that require action in the page instead if off, which I did appreciate, and I gave it an extra star because I love the found family of friends in the Burg, but that’s about it.

Ok, I vacillated between a 3 and 4 star rating for this book because I think it does suffer from a lack of time inside Rocky's head. I didn't think Layne was any worse than any other KA alpha male lead, but alot of what makes you fall for a hero in a book is being able to see him through the heroine's eyes, and in this book you didn't even get a real glimpse into what makes her tick until about 85% in. I get it was for dramatic effect (view spoiler) but it hurt the overall story. The best part of the story was the epilogue, which is definitely in the league of KA's best and responsible for that 4th star.

The small changes in KA's standard formula (view spoiler) worked for me. If we had spent any time getting to know Rocky, I think it would have made this book great, instead of good. ...more

I read For You and At Peace and loved them both. In fact I would say that At Peace is one of my most favorite books ever. Unfortunately I just didn't feel the same way about the third book in the series. Which seems to be a theme with me and Kristen Ashley books. I'm normally a sucker for second chance romance and I like reading the Heros point of view but still could not get myself to enjoy this book. ...more

Wow so love this Sexy, wicked mysterious everything you know you will find in a Kristen Ashley book I cant get enough of her work and Golden Trail does not disappoint not one little bit you will just fall in love with her characters and want more all the time could not put this down.

I love Keira in the previous book of this series, At Peace. And i love her with Jasper. And Tripp O Matic :)
