I think Kristen Ashley's alpha assholes are the picture of mansplaining. Reading one of her books will send feminists into homicidal rages, and would even be good propaganda material to recruit for the cause.

Here is a typical conversation in a KA book:

Girl: I really need to talk to you about your actions last night. When you grabbed me by the wrist and threw me against the wall, it really hurt. I had to go to the hospital after you finally let me leave this morning and -

I’ve never read a Kristen Ashely book I didn’t like. Golden Trail was no exception. I loved Layne and Rocky’s second chance love story!

Eighteen years. That’s how long it’s been since the love of Tanner Layne’s life up and left him. Raquel Merrick. Rocky. She was the one for him. They were happy and in love, until one day she was gone. Since then, Layne has had two boys- Jasper and Tripp, who are both teenagers. He’s been married, then divorced. He’s traveled all over fo

I always feel defensive when I don't like a Kristen Ashley book. And I always feel as if I should be very thorough about my expectations, my history with the author, and whatever the hell happened with this particular experience.

Yeah, really...what the heck happened, Duchess?

Well, you see, I'm not really sure. Everything about this book just rubbed me wrong. Maybe it was bad timing, maybe I've read one too many alpha male stories. Maybe I grew t

**HAPPY DANCE** oooo how I loved this book! It literally made me tremble with joy (yes, literally... and my husband is still teasing me about my incessant squeeing :P ). But seriously, its another gorgeous, swoony, emotional beautifully written KA book that had me in happy tears and clutching my heart more times than I could count.

5 Kristen Ashley Stars! (Kristen Ashley = amazing)

Just when I thought I've seen it all and there was no way I'd enjoy a book about long separated lovers and teenaged boys, Kristen Ashley turned the tables on me, moved for the win and FRAKKING did it again!!!!!

Ladies fasten your seatbelts, and prepare yourselves... We are inside the mind of Tanner Layne, alpha male extraordinaire!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entirely told in his POV, this book surprises you, captivates you and gives you a rare glimpse at the amazi

Honestly? This stuff is just perfect which ever way you look at it. Kristen Ashley books are like my safe haven. I come back to them with alarming frequency and once I start I

Re read - upgraded from 4-5 stars!

I loved this book the first time around!

I loved it even more the second time around.

Tanner and Rocky had been in love 18 years ago - until Rocky left with no warning and refused to talk to Tanner about it, or speak to Tanner ever again.

At the beginning of the story, Tanner who is now a divorced PI with 2 teen sons, had been shot while working a case, and Rocky could not keep away.

This story is told entirely in Tanner's POV, and here it worked!

The Burg series seems to be a hit or miss for me. I never made it through the first book, the second book was amazing, and this one I liked but didn't love.

Golden Trail is the story of Tanner Layne and Raquel 'Rocky' Merrick. The two were in love at a very young age until Rocky left Layne with no explanation and left him broken hearted. Fast forward eighteen years and

Another Kristen Ashley winner! Do I even need to say anything more than that? Probably not, so instead of a typical review, I’m going to do some general rambling.

What I Loved:

#1 -- It’s told entirely from the hero’s POV, which is A+wesome!

That brings me to item #2, which is the hero, Tanner Layne. He’s a badass PI, a tough alpha male, and a devoted lover and father struggling to reconcile with his past, one and only, true love and make amends

Golden Trail is another good book by Kristen Ashley, and though it was not my favorite, it still captured my imagination with vivid characters, a well developed plot, intriguing suspense, and passionate love scenes. That said, I felt something was missing from the story, and it took me some time to figure out what that was. For me, what was missing was the tantalizingly delicious romance between the hero and heroine, that I feel can be deliver only through the heroine the perspective

Astrid - The Bookish Sweet Tooth

I loved Layne, I liked Rocky, I also enjoyed the male POV but would have liked some insight into Rocky's mind - the reason why she left Layne came to light only late in the book and the way it did...I wasn't a fan of that. I also wasn't a fan of Rocky's dad and brother, not telling Layne the reason why Rocky left and serving up attitude when Layne had to deal with the consequences.

I loved Layne with his sons but involving them into dangerous cases he worked? Uh.

I still liked the story

Note-up to the last 10 percent this book was a 2 star read for me

I can't believe a KA book was so difficult for me to read. The problem was a combination of the drag effect, the annoying qualities of the characters and, well, other things. So, for once, a serious review of a KA book.

So my problems with...

Oh, Layne, you never did redeem yourself. The entire book was written in the first person, his POV, so it was even more pronounced. So my problems:

The book wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't good either. Though, surprisingly for the first time in a KA book I didn't feel like the book was dragging. Sure, it had its moments of boredom and was long, but it was alright. And it was kinda interesting to read a KA from the male's POV. Raquel “Rocky” Merrick (38)

While I hate long seperations between couples, Rocky, Layne, and the kids really made up for it. I adored this family. Even though things weren't exactly as they seem in the beginning, to see a couple working together is what I love to read. Add in two teenage mini alpha's, Layne's sons, and you've got a winner.

Drama outside of the relationship is much preferable to me as a reader. Not that they didn't have drama in the relationship because they still had to work through what happened 18 years p

A buddy read with the KA addicts at BB&B

I love KA's ability to come up with and tell a story, as well as the talent to write some absolutely memorable characters... I love the magic she infuses in everything she writers... But this series has been dancing on my nerves!!!

In this book I didn't mind Lane being a possessive and pushy alpha jerk-off, nor that Rocky could be a total bitch with everyone but her man and the kids at school... I didn't love that, but it was OK. I didn't mind

I must admit even though I love Kristen's books it took me a while to get round to reading this one, I downloaded the sample and started it a few times but something just didn't gel I think it was because after For You and At Peace I expected this book to start with known characters (personally I was hoping for Mike) I eventually got over my snit and got round to actually reading it, once I'd got going I was hooked. You cut yourself off from it so, when you lose it, that don't destroy you or hold it so close, it can't ever go away but, if it does, you got as many precious memories as you can bag. A wonderful, satiating, KA experience (that's a brand now) with characters I love and a storyline that was complex but not complicated. “Layne knew he was in love with her. Not only that, he’d never stopped loving her. Not once, not for a second, not for twenty-one years.

A few of my favorite tropes in my cotton candy reading are….Lovers separated for years and then brought back together and a fake marriage that turns into love ♥♥♥ I’m a sucker for both of those. So Golden Trail didn’t even have to work very hard for me to like it because it has long lost lover

Still not sure about her parenting techniques (like, not AT ALL), but, again, KA managed to drag me into a fascinating story and keep me riveted to the very end. Rocky's breakdown, toward the end, is very hard to read, and, if you have any triggers for panic/PTSD/etc, be aware that scene might possibly set you off. It was a little too real, in my opinion.

Quite a story. I don't know how she keeps doing this.

Another fantastic story with yet another beautiful (inside and out) male lead! And YAY for the Epilogue. I missed those in For You and At Peace & was thrilled to see it back in Golden Trail and what a wonderful epilogue too ... *sigh*

5 Golden Trail Stars

It feels like I’ve said this at least one thousand times: Kristen Ashley takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary. Seriously, I can't get enough. Every single time I sit down with on her books it’s like magic dancing off the pages and into my mind. The ‘Burg series, each a contemporary romance, delivers the usual KA bad ass alphas, the kick ass heroines and non-stop action. This read marks the second time I’ve read Golden Trail and it was even more phenomenal than the f

This was my first book by Kristen Ashley. I know people love her and her books but this one just didn't work for me. It wasn't really awful but it wasn't worth my time at this moment.

Let's make it clear, it is a really well-written book and despite its length it is somehow easy to read. It wasn't sooo long I would probably finish it. But unfortunately it is really long and I gave up at 30% and read only the ending. So, these are my thoughts about one third of the book. And there are also so many
5***** Stars THE HERO'S STORY This entire story was told in the first person by the HERO!! That's so cool. Out of the 700 + romance books that I have read, not once was the entire story told by the hero. That is soooo friggin cool. Gabaldon does that a little in her books, but NOT THE WHOLE STORY! I want more books written from the male perspective!! This was so brilliant, I loved it, and sooo different from her other books, not bad different but still XD The story between Layne and Rock is similar with the one from the first book, Feb and Colt. They were rogether as teenagers, in both books she's the one that left for an unknown reason, and now they got to work together :) But this one had a dark twist in it, I felt really bad for Roc :( That Dark chapter was :O Intense.
