I have no idea why I haven’t read this book before, but I could kick myself. It is going to be hard to top this book on my favorite list. Not only is the story phenomenal, the audiobook is just as amazing.

This book is something special. It touches your soul on a different level, and while it is heartbreaking it is also heartwarming. The story is engrossing and paints a beautiful picture while showing a grotesque reality, it is a contradiction on every level. I feel like the decision to read this book ended up being a gift to myself, one I'm greatful for. Can I give it more than 5 stars? This is one of those books that resonates through my mind, heart, and soul and will for a long, long time. Wiping tears, but smiling at the same time. A most definite Must Read! All time favorites. I'll return with a full review but meantime, this quote from the book says it all for me:

This is the first book of 2017 that I’m adding to my BEST OF 2017 list and it’s so deserving. This book… just no words. It’s everything. It’s why you read. It’s why we do what we do. Rodel just purchased her first home in England and is excited to start her real “adult” life when a phone call turns her world upside down. Her sister was a victim of a terrorist attack in a mall in Africa and she must go and claim her belongings. She knew her sister was a free spirit, always traveling the world but she’s about to learn so much more about her sister than she ever expected. Her sister was helping children get to safety who were being hunted because of their skin. She decides to honor her sister by finishing her mission. She’s about to find out her sister was not just a free spirit but fighting a cause.
Jack has his own tragic story from the same terrorist attack that day in the mall. What was once a happy father is now a bitter and angry man. When a local sends Rodel his way he wants nothing to do with her. Why should he help her? He has a farm to run and doesn’t have time to deal with Rodel’s wild goose chase. But when he sees with Rodel something makes him stop and reconsider. Rodel and Jack are set on finishing her sister’s quest but both will find so much more than that along the way.
The journey for them is long and hard. Many times I held my breath wondering what was going to happen next. You think a cross country trek across Africa would be thrilling and exciting. Jack knew the dangers, but Rodel was jumping in with both feet and with danger around every corner would they come out unharmed? What they were looking to do would save many but at the same time, it could cost them their lives. This is one story you cannot miss! If you read only one book, this is it!! You need to read it to find out what happens to Jack and Rodel!!! HUGE 10 STARS!!!

A maneira da autora descrever as emoções foi de uma beleza extraordinária, todo aquele ambiente, apesar de em momentos ser devastador, foi vivido com simplicidade, com a aceitação de que havia um fim mas valia a pena viver o momento com o prazo de validade. A zona de conforto foi mais do que testada, o mostrar o possível no impossível, o saber olhar e interpretar as coisas noutra perspectiva.
