Sweets, I’ve got a sharp craving. I’ll take some extra sugar with my sugar, please. Yep, hold my usual order of angst and I’ll take a double order of fluff. I’ve also been on a Walker kick lately. So what better fix than jumping into her Australian cowboy series? None. I can’t think of anything better. Yes, I know I’m late to this particular party but some things are timeless. The mighty and magnificent Outback is certainly one of them. I couldn’t help but follow my fingers to explore pictures o

Spoiler Ahead This book was picked for me to read. Charlie Sutton runs one of the largest working ranches in middle Australia, Sutton Station. It is something he was born to do and Charlie can’t picture himself anywhere else even if he feels his sexuality would make him an outcast not only among the people he works among but the other stations and store owners he does business with as well. With the recent death of his overbearing father it has done nothing to still his father’s voice inside his

Another great series by the talented Ms Walker. I love the Australian outback. She brings the are to life and I can just picture it. Charlie and Travis we so cute together. I loved that Travis went after what he wanted and didn’t let Charlie’s doubts stop him. I can’t wait to continue this series.
Joel Lesley did an amazing job!

NR Walker is one of my favorite authors of all time...she writes stories that tug on my heartstrings. I really enjoyed reading about Charlie and Travis and the others who work Sutton Station in the Australian outback*. It was fun being in Charlie's POV as he used Australian-isms that I enjoyed looking up (for example: snags = sausages)...it was also difficult as he navigated dealing with his deceased father's contempt for his sexuality and how internalized that had become in Charlie's beliefs re

Uneven series opener, though with a really great sense of place.
Charlie, our MC, is a lonely farmer in the Outback. His romance with Travis, an American studying Australian farming methods, falls flat for me, maybe because Charlie is the sole POV character? Maybe because it's very instalovey? Maybe because the crises seemed very contrived? I definitely found the pacing a bit off. Debating whether to pick up the second book. ...more
