Pleasure Unbound is the first book in the Demonica series, and I loved it. It was a tough beginning, trying to learn all the different characters aka demons, but the book has a glossary to help you out.
You find out that the good guys aren't always good, and the bad guys aren't always bad. Sometimes, they must toe the line to help each other out. ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Maybe I really am in a book funk, I kept seeing fellow goodreaders recommending this, so even though the beginning pages didn't look too entrancing, I decided to give it a try though I must say I'm not fond of it.

I seriously have a problem with the h. I don't mind tough h, in fact I love them as it means the H has to work extra hard. Yet this h didn't endear me and I cannot say why as I understand why she does the things she does but still I'm just all around pissed that I'm wasting time on her. It seems with this book it's all about her taking and the H giving, I seriously do not understand what she's done to deserve the H's affection. I know she's used to looking out for herself and all, but still, after all he's done, I cannot believe she'll still doubt him. Her reasoning ability really is bad too, as she cannot figure out why the H will pick her. If he just wants to get out of the situation and is desperate enough to latch on a female, I would have thought she'd have figured out she will be the very LAST person he'd picked. Anyhows, she's so cactusy and pricky I just do not see any give in her most times.

The star's probably for the H. He has to be the most forgiving and patient H as with such a h, it's really hard to be otherwise. He's caring, gentle and not really the usual alpha type. Though he should be by nature a man ho, I'm glad he's been around and yet has enough control to let his brain dictate his other body functions, quite rare nowadays to be frank. He's just an all around good guy that takes care of his gal and brothers as best he can.

The world building is intriguing, with demons being usually bad with a few good ones around. I like it as well as the fact that there are also shapeshifters and vampires included. The plot is actually the thing that got me going, especially when you never know of all the multitude of characters introduced, who will be offed next and who is the good/bad guy (was taken quite by surprised when the first of these just got offed).

Initially I thought I'll take a break from the contemp category and toss a pnr in to get our of my funk, but it's looking like it's not working. Based on the many high recommendations and from what I've seen of brothers though, I will try again in the future as the brothers seem less bland than our goody two shoes H here. ...more

This was actually a 3.5 one for me, mostly because I was just in the mood for something like this.
It defiantly has the feel of a PR written in the late 90's early 00's. There was a lot of leather pants.
I didn't end up really like the Tayla much, surprisingly the the alpha male sex demon brothers didn't bother me? Maybe they were just so cliché they were more funny than anything.
