If I want a well written story with lovable characters, intriguing plots, layered with witty banter, and laugh out loud moments, Emma Chase is who I run to. Appealed, I'm happy to say, is all of those things. Brent and Kennedy's story is deep in a way I wasn't expecting. Having already met Brent in the previous Legal Briefs books, I had this expectation that this book would be based around his prosthetic leg. Honestly I have no idea why I thought this. Bad, bad assumption because Appealed is act If I want a well written story with lovable characters, intriguing plots, layered with witty banter, and laugh out loud moments, Emma Chase is who I run to. Appealed, I'm happy to say, is all of those things. Brent and Kennedy's story is deep in a way I wasn't expecting. Having already met Brent in the previous Legal Briefs books, I had this expectation that this book would be based around his prosthetic leg. Honestly I have no idea why I thought this. Bad, bad assumption because Appealed is actually not focused on what Brent's physically missing. It's focused more on what he's emotionally missing.

I've said this before and it's still true, Emma Chase has the best leading men. I'm secretly hoping that ALL Emma Chase books are written in the male pov from here on out. There's just something magical that happens when she brings these men to life on paper. Brent Mason is no exception and he has a long history with his childhood friend Kennedy.

When Brent, a self proclaimed bachelor, sees Kennedy for the first time in several years, he's overjoyed. Cause according to him she's smoking hot. But it quickly dissolves into so much more when Kennedy makes it clear she's not interested. Not only does she turn him down but she's a lawyer too and arguing against him in his next case. The sexual tension, oh my word, the sexual tension...it's was so much fun to read. I was picturing this courtroom version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was funny, hot and a little scary, but it was Brent's pov that made it so much better.

Underneath all of that though is a story about Brent and Kennedy's relationship while in high school. And for me I thought the ball was dropped just a tad. For as juicy as the sexual tension was it wasn't enough for me to hold up the grudge. The angst was only floating on the surface. I just wished it dug a little deeper.

Appealed is a great story and it was easy to get lost in it. I loved seeing Stanton, Sofia, Jake and Chelsea, again. It was like a homecoming when they all had a bbq together. I had many laugh out loud moments. It reminded me of Friends with kids LOL. I'm sorry to see this series end.

I especially loved the extended epilogue. It was bittersweet and I won't lie, I cried. This is such a great series to read. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Another awesome book from Ms. Chase! Like Sustained, I love the characters and the story did seem entirely plausible. Not too much angst, just enough to keep the story interesting but realistic. I really enjoyed Brent’s story, the flashbacks to his youth, and Kennedy. Very realistic actions and reactions from her. We got more time with Stanton and Sofia, Jake and Chelsea and family. And a few new characters added to the mix for a really well rounded story. Loved the Epilogue and the Extended Epi ...more

What is there not to love about Brent Mason? Brent had some groveling but he did it like a champ. He never doubted his feelings for Kennedy. Kennedy is just plain bass!

Listening to the audiobook. The auditor does a great job.
