I have some really mixed emotions on this book I feel as if I shouldn’t like it as much as I do. It was bloody awesome. I also feel as if I’m just churning out another review saying how brilliant this book is. Well I don’t care.

Brantley King is the King of Logan Beach for everyone else he is known as King. We see him as a teenager and then the man that he grows in to. And he is scary as fucking shit! Brantley King is the King of Logan Beach for everyone else he is known as King. We see him as a teenager and then the man that he grows in to. And he is scary as fucking shit! But he is real. He doesn’t make out to be anyone that he isn’t and I really like that. He is authentic, he is flawed and he makes no excuses. He is rough, he never apologizes, he is an arsehole but as I said I like that.
He has just come out prison for manslaughter, when you find out when they you will react the same I know that I would have. Prison has changed him he wants to live his old life behind. That ain’t that easy believe me. I had to move to a different country, wait about seven years, I might have moved back but I live in a different town. I hate going back to the place where I grew up but I had an out.

To keep business going and as the supplier didn’t want to talk to Preppy while King was incarcerated they set up their own gig with the Granny Grow Houses but that brings major trouble.

Doe can’t remember anything over the last past months. She has been living on the streets until she is nearly robbed by a hooker, Nikki who takes her in. They head off to a party so that Doe can find protection, a bed, food and a willing partner. Desperate times cause for desperate measures. She is strong, sticks up for herself and as a heroine I really liked her.

She does things she doesn’t want to and sees things that she shouldn’t want to either. Her first encounter with King is different, the second one isn’t much better. She is young, naïve and really has no clue but so far she has been doing okay. Doe is attracted to King.

“I think that you are the most stubborn, overbearing, anger inducing, obnoxious, complicated, and beautiful man that has ever lived.”

That is until shit hits the fan where Doe is shot. Six thousand dollars are missing and it is Doe to pay up so she ends up being handcuffed to a bed with very few options. They become close although King does let Doe go but changes his mind. He saves Doe again though. At first he felt desire and well mostly hatred for Doe.

“Somewhere, somehow, my anger towards her had turned to some sort of fucked up affection.”
But feelings are there and they can’t be stopped.

“King filled me so completely. Not just my body. My heart. My soul. My life. I didn’t give a shit if I ever got my memory back. Because with King, I knew exactly who I was. I was his.”

But King was the same,

“Because when I first saw these wide innocent eyes, you looked like a lost puppy dog. And,” he continued, “I knew at that very moment when you stood in my doorway, that I wanted to keep you.”

King fucks up big time he thinks he knows what he is doing but he makes a trade and he knew who Doe was right from the beginning. Well he fucks up quite a bit when you’ve never had anything of real importance then how do you know how to fight for it? You don’t.

Did I want to like King? Fuck no! When the author has the talent to endear you to a character who is maybe somewhat mentally instable then there is no more that I can say on the matter? Nothing really.

To top it off when that talent in creating characters that you can’t help but not like, the best example here is Preppy. You know with your specific tastes that you shouldn’t but in my case I just couldn’t help it.

I’m also not in the mood for cookie cutter romances at the moment and this is most definitely a cookie cutter. If you want your standard romance then all I can see is move on as there are some things that will bother it. There are some books where I draw a line but not this one. It is dark, gritty, hypnotizing and sucks you right in from the beginning.

Those who act refined don’t always have a moral compass. Better the devil or know rather than the one you don’t know. And we see that when we find out where Doe comes from.

This is going to be brief because I'm really annoyed. So, dear Author, you are on my shit list for the damn fool move you pulled at 85%. I'm not a happy camper.

And now my thoughts on the book. Loved most of the book (see above!!), it started with a bang and I was clamming to know more about King and Preppy, two boys who against the odds became the best of friends and had each others backs. Throw in a badass biker club and a damsel in distress suffering from amnesia and I was in book nirvana.

Shelves: 01st-in-series, raw-gritty, tattooed, m-f, bad-boy

I had my doubts about this book after I started reading it. But then something happened....I was hooked and couldn't put it down. King, Preppy and their fractured lives are a lot to take in. But as I continued on, I was able to look past the things they had to do to survive and actually fell in love with these characters. And Doe was the chink in their armor that made it happen.

I went into this book blind and I was totally hooked by the end of the first page....

I was completely addicted and couldn't put the book down, I devoured it and totally fell in love with King and Doe....

I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I hoped and I was all kinds of angst as I consumed this story... I was left totally in need of tyrant.... Because it can't be the end of Doe and King.....

This book isn't to be missed.... It's simply fabulous. ...more

Bow Down to the King .. Amazing!

King is a hard and dominate man who has some serious childhood trauma. Doe is a lost girl who has no memory of who she is. Together they find that two broken people can make each other whole... but with a past stacked against them trying to makes sense of it all is almost impossible. Great story.. gritty and raw.. characters were written flawed and real. Cannot wait until book 2
