2020 re-read: my dash through the ‘Burg series was, barring some rough patches, a needed nostalgia trip in The hellsccape of 2020. None are perfect, but it comes down to the characters, and Cher is among my all-time fave KA heroines ever. Her tenacity, her resilience, and her desire for love just make it so easy to empathize and connect with her. The epilogue stands among the best as well. well unfortunately, i think i am done with KA. This book was the same as the last 6.. so much cut and paste.. cheryl at 30% of course went from the constant inner dialogue of "i am no good" "a woman like me doesnt get happy" to "merry loves me, me, me" and giving everyone "gooey".. cheryl and merry talked and acted like high schoolers, i mean she is 35 and he is 42! the whole write a text and delete, write a text and delete, etc.. this went on and one And Ethan, well i think KA was channeling Fi ...more

I hate to admit I had not read any of the books in this series until "Hold On". It was a solid story with stellar main characters giving it their all to make a relationship work. This man and woman were tough and unpolished, damaged and burdened with life's baggage but honest and loving. I loved that it was two working class people dealing with real life working class struggles of finances, child care, past partners and neighborhood safety. The last of the'Burg series and she goes out with a bang. Kristen Ashley's stories draw you in, make you laugh, cry, cheer for the H/h with the heart of gold and want to kick the bad guys in the head. There is no need for a synopsis as this is a KA book so you know it ROCKS.
Now we get to look forward to more Chaos and a new series with Kai and Stella! Thank you Ms. Ashley! ...more
