An absolutely BREATHTAKING BEAUTIFUL READ!!! A Pound of Flesh by Sophie Jackson was an utterly addictive read that captured and gripped my heart from the opening pages. There are not enough of words to describe the magnitude of how beautifully epic, profound, stunning, gripping and touching this book was. In this beautiful tale, Ms. Jackson was able deliver a forbidden tale that will forever stay with me. A POUND OF FLESH is an unforgetta ...more

*Grabs mic and clears throat* ladies and gentlemen welcome to my review of “A pound of Flesh” I stumbled upon this by pure coincidence and preordered that baby. I’m ecstatic that I did.
In a very long time I haven’t read something so refreshing, unique and tailored to what I want to read in a book. For me and please note that is just my personal opinion it was very well written. The plot was interesting and I rooted for the two, right down to the bottom of my black, black heart. 5 *You and Me* ...more

3 1/2 Stars!
I enjoyed this story a lot. What makes it very good are the characters. Kat is a very stubborn and independent minded young woman and Carter was just so endearing. I just wanted to hug him and tell him everything will be okay. What kept this story from being 5 stars for me is the pacing of the story. It was a little slow for me. I think Kat and Carter lacked communication for far too long AND the whole fobidden lover part never really played out like I expected. Overall though, I lik ...more

Extremely well-written and intriguing story.
I bought this book on release day because of the rave reviews I was seeing from bloggers on Facebook. I love a good student/teacher romance, so I just couldn't say no. Though I'm not sure I fell as deeply in love with the book as some others did, it was undeniably a great read. The story was told in an effective third-person narration that never bored or confused me. I loved the characters (though I wanted to throttle Kat's mom at times), I thought th ...more
