Another well-written story

The Will just reminded me of the many reasons why I love Kristen Ashley...this story is vintage, classic, pure KA at her finest..We all know that KA is known for her badass, hot, swoon worthy, bossy, family lovin alphas.....no one writes them better, that's a given...I think Jake might be my new favorite.....it might be because he's closer to my age, or his unconditional love and work ethic to provide for his kids, or how he handles Josie, the woman meant to be the love Another well-written story

Speaking of Jake's children, they were awesome...Conner, 17, Amber, 16, and Ethan, 8, are almost involved in this book as much as Jake and Josie are...I loved each of them...each of their stories were a significant part in the importance of the evolvement of this family...Amber's two best friends, the two Taylor's were as well...

Now, to Josie.....hmmm...I'm not sure where to start with her...the story really is all about her. She winds up back home in Magdalene, Maine for her grandmothers (gran's) funeral. Josie is a 45 year old world traveler, jet setter, hob-knobbing with the rich and famous of rap and rock stars, top fashion models etc. due to her job as an assistant to a highly known photographer...
While her gran's will is read, Josie learns, that along with her house, gran has left HER to Jake...as she spends time at gran's house (lavender house) her world changes forever as she comes more and more involved in Jake and his children's lives...there are other characters, so many of them, that are fabulous and I almost wish that each of them could have their own book as well...
The thing with Josie is this....and it was a big one for me personally. Her lingo confused me, aggravated me and almost ruined this story for me...she spoke like an 1800's lady of the manor...and NOT American in the least...as you read this book, you'll learn that Josie had an abusive childhood....so I was thinking that maybe this was her defense mechanism that kicked in long ago or the fact that she really did travel the world over so why would any dialect from with the US stick with her....but it was too much for me....ex. "I moved Ellie clear from the burgeoning fray, and did it quickly"....or "Alas, I can't tell you that young Taylor, for he very much is not" or "does Conner play sport?" Or "your ensemble is very fashion forward and you carry it off with aplomb"...or "alas, I must dash this dream"... Jake is a boxer, not a pugilist....we move along, not "sally forth", calling big manly Jake "darling" all the time, uh, no...cell phones are not "mobiles" and we hang up a phone not "rang off"...or "you cad"... Oh, and I can't forget the endless, "indeeds", "lovely's", "splendids", "drats"....you get my drift!!! I actually welcomed Jakes foul mouth just to remind myself that really is 2014!!!!
Ok, with all that being said, Josie was a beautiful, loving, caring person who clearly was much needed and welcomed with open arms into Jake's family and into his bed....
This story, as a whole, was breathtakingly beautiful and so real that it constantly tugged at my heart....Alas, another well-written Kristen Ashley read. ...more

If I could give this book more stars on here I would. This is a 5++ plus star book for me. I cried so hard at the end. Beautiful. I'll write a real review when I can but sooo worth the read!

Very sweet story. I enjoy following along on Josephine and Jake's journey. I think Jake's kids were amazing. Each one of them and their individual stories were very touching. I love Kristen Ashley and her writing. ...more
