I chose this book for obvious warmth and found the authoress is from my city! My immaculate hardcover is autographed by her to boot! I soon saw that "Tiktala" is as moving as it looks. This 1996 story about Inuit wondering if their new generation is keen to understand the animal spirits behind soapstone-carving, is my forté. It soared to a five-star reaction from me. It is absolutely soul-quenching! One of its few ratings at Goodreads is from Margaret Shaw-MacKinnon's daughter, proud of her Mom' ...more
