I liked this book better than I liked 1984. The discussion at book club was really good. Julia was a more sympathetic character than Winston was. Newman also expanded the world created by Orwell with addition of many more characters from different walks of life.

This is an authorized retelling of 1984 from Julia's perspective. We learn more about her life, and the lives of women in general in this world. I'm sure there are deeper messages in this book (and 1984) that went over my head. Some of them probably revolve around the questions Julia was being asked at the end of the book (and had been asked previously). Overall, I enjoyed this book.
