The FMC is extremely immature. She's 36, but acts/speaks like a 13 year old.

This book was perfect. Funny, exciting, charming, unique. Likable characters in a world that I wanted to be able to explore even more (which is perfect since she has other books in this universe!). A delightful love story with exceptional pining and a spicy payoff. This is going to be one of my comfort books!

While I felt I was missing something having not read the Clockwork Boys series first, I don’t think it was without enough exposition that could make the story less good. That all being said, this was another wonderful romantic adventure like only T Kingfisher can write. I love her characters, her world building, and stories. For fans of the Paladin Series, this will absolutely satisfy

T. Kingfisher writes in a very unique style that I enjoy a lot. This is the second (and more serious)
"sentient sword" book I've read, and I enjoy the concept. I see this series recommended on r/fantasyromance a lot, so I look forward to continuing it. The world is very interesting.
Kindle readers beware - the Kindle version is riddled with errors that are rather distracting. I looked this up and it seems to be unique to this version of the book. ...more

Edit(10/8): ok I’ve taken some time to process so I’ll review the rest of the book.
2.5/5 stars. I wasn’t a fan of this one as much as the Clocktaur Wars or A Wizards Guide to Defensive Baking. (5/5 books for me).
The main character was slightly too quirky for my taste and I’m glad for the age representation but it felt like she was 50 instead of 36.
I really loved the non binary priest character and Brindle! Those two were the best part of the book for me! I also loved the part in the wandering ...more
