If I'm honest, I understand why some people go straight to the OUABH series and skip this, but I really wanted to read this so the OUABH makes more sense. I just found the writing was quite childish and it took me so long to connect to Scarlett and Donatella (loved Julian straight away though hehehehehe). This book hooked me and was interesting the entire way through. The romance subplot was incredibly interesting and I loved it, although the plot twist at the end was kind of cheap and not very advanced (the dead being not dead like at all? seriously?) but it seemed to work. I believe that Julian and Scarlett are good together. A lot of people hate Scarlett’s personality but I think she’s relatable if a little naive.
