a bit disappointed, but still enjoyed reading it.

The idea is really interesting, the writing is easy, and the way the text is divided into parts was a really great idea, but still I couldn't feel connected to the story and the characters.

I was looking at the pages and just knew it was just a game, even though some of the moments really confused me. And I know there's a second book, but I don't understand why the author didn't give us some kind of closure in this bo ...more

At the start I found this book a tad bit hard to get into, but when I was into it, I was INTO it. I loved the magical aspect of it, and how I didn’t know what was real, and what wasn’t just like the characters. I loved Scarlett soo much, and thought she was such a strong FMC. I loved Julian so much, he was so funny, and I thought his and Scarlett’s relationship was the cutest thing ever. I absolutely loved his nickname “Crimson” for Scarlett as well. I am not a picky reader. I give most books 4-5 stars. But that does not mean that this book isn’t worthy of its five stars BECAUSE IT IS.

: ̗̀➛ Plot:
Caraval is the story of sisters Scarlett, Donatella, and their unbreakable bond. Scarlett and Donatella are two young girls who are trapped on their island under the hands of their abusive father. But then one day they get the chance to partake in the magical world of Caraval, and Tella is adamant to go. Scarlett is against going (even though it’s been her lifelong dream) because she is engaged to a mystery suitor and she thinks that he will be their way off of the island. Eventually, Tella and her friend Julian basically end up kidnapping Scarlett to go to Caraval. When Scarlett regained consciousness a couple of days later, her and Julian are almost at the island where Caraval is taking place, since he dropped off Tella first. When they make it to the island, Tella is nowhere to be found. Later on it is revealed that Tella was taken and the point of this years Caraval is to find her, and if you do you win Tella and one impossible wish. Scarlett fights hard to get back her sister.

: ̗̀➛ Characters:
I love the cast of characters. Scarlett is determined and I love how much she cares for her sister. Tella honestly got on my nerves a lot in this book. I’ve read this series before so I know that she gets better but she honestly pissed me off a lot while reading this 😭. I love Julian. He’s an amazing mmc and the amount of times I’ve found myself smiling or giggling because of his interactions with Scarlett is honestly kinda sad. But it’s okay because I love him 🤭

: ̗̀➛ General thoughts:
Of course, I have already said that this book is amazing. This book is set in the same world as the once upon a broken heart series but it isn’t necessary to read it before once upon a broken heart, though you will get spoiled for some parts of this series if you read OUABH first. I read OUABH first and I was completely fine though. I love how unique Caraval is and how whimsical it is. I definitely prefer the more whimsy fantasy books than the hardcore ones so if you do too, then this book is for you!

This review was honestly very hard to make because honestly, I am a horrible reviewer. But in the end this book is really great and unique, if you haven’t read it yet then I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! ...more

Oh. My. Goodness. I love this book so much!! This was the first book I’ve read that actually made my jaw drop, and there was so many twists and turns and it was just so much fun!! I honestly can’t believe that Caraval isn’t a real place, like I would visit in a heart beat. Anyway, with that being said, please don’t hesitate to pick it up, I loved it so much!! <3

so good! I think the second half was so much easier to get through though, I think the first half dreaded on since it didn’t really start to get interesting until about 100 pages in! I think overall though I’m going to like legend more than Julian and Scarlett more than Tella, I guess I’ll see though!
